Much-needed project not included in council's new budget
Although residents had asked for some of the most basic community needs for many years, such as the long-overdue Williams Landing Library and Community Centre, nothing changed from the draft budget.
As Wyndham grows rapidly, infrastructure remains a high priority for residents, with 46.8 respondents asking for an increase in infrastructure for their local area. This includes infrastructure such as new community centres, indoor recreation centres and a range of road upgrades across the city.
17.2% of total responses are related to a new Community Learning Centre in Williams Landing, on Council's 2018-2019 budget.
Former Wyndham City Councillor Aaron An, who fought hard on basic local community needs, said: "Council had identified a wide range of services that are missing or need close attention for the Williams Landing community during the 2016-2020 term. That includes Library Services, Community Activity Space, Family Services, Maternal and Child Health, Middle Year's Services, Youth Services, Government School, Arts and Culture, Aged care, Disability Services, Family Violence, and this Community Learning Centre is critical to address these missing services. It is very disappointing to see this much-needed project is not included in this year's budget".
