Have your say on Rail

HAVE YOUR SAY ON RAIL WITH THE ON TRACK SURVEY (from RACV)

Whether you commute daily, rarely catch a train or don’t use trains at all, chances are you have ideas on how Victoria’s rail system could be improved.

RACV is encouraging all Victorians to share their thoughts and ideas as part of the second On Track survey.

RACV Manager Public Transport and Mobility Thanuja Gunatillake says: “We want as many members of the community to have their say because we know these campaigns get results.”

The first On Track survey completed by 4500 people in 2013, found that a lack of parking at railway stations was the biggest issue in accessing the rail network. Almost one-third of respondents said services were too infrequent.

Thanuja says: “It was surprising to find that 22 per cent of train travellers held personal safety concerns and that 19 per cent of women chose to travel to a station further away from home because of safety concerns.”

The results of the new survey, which is being run in partnership with Leader newspapers, will help RACV continue to lobby government for upgrades and improvements to the system based on the feedback.

“Almost three-quarters of RACV’s 2.1 million members use public transport,” Thanuja says. RACV members who complete the survey can go into a draw to win one of two $500 RACV Resorts gift cards. The survey opens on 26 October and closes Monday 30 November.
