Council rates

We moved to Williams Landing early this year. Just got the council rates for this year, think is too high. Anybody know why we are charged more? I have checked with some of my colleagues living in east side, they are paying less than half of what we are paying. The value of property is almost equal or higher than mine.

thanks,

Yea , my friend and I also have received the council rate. Mine is $1570 per annum (400 sqm land size), my friend is $1400 (336sqm).

There is pretty much no public facilities and public services been planned in WL yet.

Where we're paying one of the highest rates in Wyndham. We need to ask the city council to treat us fairly.

Bob, my understanding is that the  rates across Wyndham are calculated by the same means.  The "rate" x CIV (Capital Improved Value) is consistent across Wyndham City regardless of suburb.  Thanks Rodney

Hi All,

After attending the recent Council Community Panel meeting, my understanding is that the rate is charged by allocations to each house based on council $ needs per fysical year.  As Wyndham council is spending $$$ developing infrastructure and services to support the one of the fastest growiing surburb as compare to establish surburb. That's why we are paying more rate than them.  That's my simple understanding and i might be got it wrong.

From the recent Council Community Panel meeting, the council told us that it is tasked to cap the rate raise to 5% over next few years. Thus, the council plan to reduce/cut off some services.

Will see if i can get hold of the final Community Panel meeting minutes/report posted here by year end 2015.

You can look out for me in the coming Free Christmas event "Carols In The Park" posted on this event web site. Hope to see you all there.

Cheers
